“Wherever you are, be all there.”

- Jim Elliot

I was in high school when I came across the above quote by Jim Elliot. I carried this quote with me as I went off to college, but it wasn’t until the start of my sophomore year that I began to actually take hold of what Elliot was saying.

As a dreamer, I have the tendency to constantly look forward to what’s going to come next – daydreaming about tomorrow, next year, or the next phase of life. I can sometimes forget about the here and now. As my freshman year came to a close and my sophomore year began, I realized I had not been all there. I was not living presently in the place God had placed me.

Jim Elliot reminds me to live in the moment and enjoy even the littlest things. Without having to give up my excitement for what’s to come, I’m reminded to savor each and every moment, feeling, and experience wherever I am. And this is what photography can do.

Photography captures a moment in time. A time when you are unapologetically yourself, and savoring the moment you are in. Maybe it’s seeing your spouse for the first time on your wedding day, or the celebration of saying “yes!” to forever with your best friend, or maybe it’s an attempt at stopping time and cherishing your children before they all grow up. It’s in these moments that you’re forced to live in the moment and take in the magnitude of why you are being photographed where you are. An authentic photograph captures that moment, feeling, or experience, not so you can dream and look forward to the next big “photograph worthy” event, but so that you can look back and feel the way that you felt when you were living in the moment. When you were all there.

1. I shot my first wedding when I was 17!

2. I went to college at Belmont University in Nashville, TN and majored in Social Entrepreneurship. I also have a Master’s in Social Work from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. It’s a dream of mine to intertwine social work and photography! You can read more about that here.

3. The Dark Knight is my favorite movie of all time.

4.  I just got married in January to my very best friend! Tyler and I met back in high school and stayed friends throughout college and graduate school. He proposed to me while we were on a trip visiting some of Canada’s best national parks!

5. Speaking of national parks, it’s my goal to visit all 60 U.S. National Parks. I love hiking and the outdoors!

6. I love to travel and have been to over 9 countries!

7. I have 9 siblings, 7 of whom are adopted. God has taught me so much through my family! (If you are a newly adoptive family, you’re in the right place! I offer discounted family sessions just for you!)

8. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and I live to make Him known. He is gracious, and faithful and I constantly see Him working in my life through the good and through the bad. Ask me about Him sometime!
